MM3312 Computer-based Training Design Document for completion of final project

Project Presentation

Please provide a layout of the navigation, ideas for an integrated GUI, color scheme, total costs for implementation (web and cd/dvd versions), and screen shots of sample pages. Include a timeline and assets included. You must clearly state your project's target audience, your objectives, any prior knowledge and necessary technology that may be a prerequisite to learning, and your desired outcomes. Each design document will be the main source of information for the project.  The document should include:

  • A title page listing the project name and client, date and revision number of the design
  • A table of contents listing the sections included
  • A contact list for the project team members, client, and other important contacts. NOTE: Do not include any real information other than email addresses

Sections:

 

Overview describing the project goals and target audience:

  • description of the target audience, with reference and support materials
  • source of the content (citations from online or onground resources)
  • proposed project scope - number of pages, amount of content, anticipated difficulty/challenges
  • content

Information architecture and content :

  • Site map/information design
  • flowchart
  • Inventory of content with indications of media type
  • content (instructional events)

Technical plan which includes:

  • navigation design
  • discussion of tools to be used
  • special technical challenges (e.g. streaming video)
  • page size targets
  • file naming convention
  • site directory structure
  • site revision conventions

Production plan which includes:

  • task assignments
  • schedule for design
  • schedule for asset production: content, art, html
  • schedule for proofing, functional testing, and revisions
  • schedule for final release
  • overall responsibility of project

Storyboard, layouts, visuals:

  • Art direction samples, with a discussion of the design standards (fonts to be used, color palette, etc.) and design approach. 
  • logo design
  • navigation icons
  • any technical requirements (with technical director)

Completed project :

  • storyboard and layouts that speak to different learning styles
  • asset production: html, graphics, templates, libraries, includes, navbar
